In Minnesota the “ice-out” is the day in the spring when ice melts and the surface of our lakes open. We wait to see the water return.
In the winter of 25-26, the “ice-out” refers to our hopes for the end of an occupation by federal officers and a time when our streets, and our hearts, are clear.
Patrick Schiltz, the chief judge for the U.S. District Court of Minnesota, issued an order that cataloged a total of 96 court orders that he said ICE had violated in 74 different cases.
